Stop folding & sorting socks

I used to spend at least 1-2 hours a week sorting and folding socks. I’d turn on my show and fold away. Not the worst thing ever, but there are other things I can do to be productive while I watch a show. Or not. Moms need to relax too, right? So then I resorted to just sorting socks according to who they belonged to. Also a waste of time, because I could never remember what sock belonged to what person and they were always a mess (not a new problem, but that part of the original problem remained).

So what I do now is just throw all socks into one 13x13 basket in the laundry room (including adults’). For my family of 8 the basket is getting a little too small, so I probably need to get something like this soon. Keeping the socks in one container saves me A LOT of time, everyone can easily shuffle through and find their own socks, and it’s nice having socks in close proximity to the mud room instead of in bedrooms. When we’re trying to get out the door in a hurry it’s a total game changer. So save yourself a lot of time and grief and get yourself a communal sock basket!
